Looking Ahead for 2013 - Reading and Blogging Goals

It's a new year and with that I'm going to give myself a few goals for my reading, as well as for my blog.  Things kind of got out of hand this year - with reviews and blog tours, I ended up not reading books for myself.  Not that I didn't enjoy my reading, I did.  I've "discovered" some great authors and books, but sometimes I'd just like to read a book because I want to.  This year, that's what I'm going to do.

I will still accept reviews and blog tours, but I will be much more selective and I will be cutting back (hint:  if you write cozy mysteries and romances, you have a good chance to get a review - but no promises).  I will keep my other blog Socrates Cozy Cafe going for the cozy mysteries that I review, although those reviews will also be on this blog.

I do plan to review most books I read whether they are read for enjoyment, a blog tour or requested review.  I, also, still plan to do weekly memes.  I always love those.  I will try to get around more to other blogs to comment.

As for reading challenges, I consider that these are for my own enjoyment.  The books I read for them will be a combination of review books and enjoyment books.  The challenges kind of keep me organized.  I joined 8 challenges this year and I'm hosting 3 challenges again this year.  I might join one or two more challenges.  I'm not sure yet, but this is a big drop from the number of challenges I usually join.  Previously I joined almost three times as many as I'm joining in 2013.

My final goal is to get back to my own writing.  I've gotten away from it because I've been so wrapped up with reviewing, but I need to set time for my own writing.  Easier said then done, I know, but I have to at least try.

I didn't have a great 2012 on many levels, but I'm determined that 2013 will be a great year!   I hope it will be for all of you, too!

  2. Good luck with your reading/blogging and writing goals Yvonne! I know just what you mean, it's easy to get all caught up in blog tours and review books, then there is no time for reading for yourself. The same thing happens to me.

Thank you for stopping by and visiting my blog! I always love reading comments and getting to know my readers!

After some careful consideration, I've decided to become an award-free blog. Although I appreciate and am honored by each and every award I've received, your comments and friendship are enough award for me. Thank you all so much for your thoughtfulness.

Due to way too many spam comments, I disabled the Anonymous User comments. We'll see if this works, otherwise I'll have to go back to word verification.
